Playbox Theatre is a professional, not-for-profit arts company working with children and young people. Since earliest beginnings in 1986, Playbox Theatre has developed the skills, talent and confidence of young people through exciting and innovative methods including theatre, movement, circus, multimedia and extraordinary live events.

Throughout each year, we offer a wide range of programmes and activities for young people to learn and develop skills across the arts, from workshops and master classes to laboratories and productions on tour nationally and internationally.

We are lucky to have a custom designed complex, The Dream Factory in Warwick that opened in 1999 and has been a place of learning and experimentation for thousands of students.

The Dream Factory: background and future vision

Funded by the National Lottery, The Dream Factory was custom designed as a centre of excellence for youth theatre and performing arts. Each week a core programme of more than 20 workshops takes place, alongside performances, rehearsals, birthday parties and private events.

Over the coming months, a programme of refurbishment is planned to upgrade the facilities and front of house areas fit for the next generation of Playbox Members.

Key to these developments is a re-launch of the catering function of the company. Situated in the front of house area, the café is the heart of the public area and the face of the organisation to a wide range of customer groups. Its offering needs to be of the same standard of excellence as the artistic product.

Our vision for the café

We want to create a destination café offering high quality, home-cooked food with a family focus. It must:

  1. Offer a professional service

  2. Be efficient to deal with high demand at certain times

  3. Be profitable to contribute to the overall sustainability of the organisation
