Throughout the year, Playbox runs a range of exciting, energetic and diverse holiday events for young people of all ages.

Holiday workshops take place at The Dream Factory in Warwick, ranging from half-day, to weeklong specialist projects. These are open to both members, and non-members, of Playbox Theatre.

Our holiday workshops are a perfect way for young people to be creatively engaged during the school holidays, and to develop skills across a range of performing arts.

Led by highly experienced Playbox Directors, with regular guest directors from the theatre and film industries.

The programme of classes available varies throughout the year, and information on this page is continuously updated.

Holiday workshops are themed, and appropriately age-banded. Schedules regularly include Musical Theatre; Shakespeare; Stage Combat; Film-Making; Acting; Dance; Drama School Preparation; Technical; Design; Pre-School Events.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Calling all Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve!

Inspired by one of Playbox Theatre’s most beloved stories, we are going to be looking at C.S Lewis’s classic tale of magic and mystery. Although in Narnia it is always winter and never Christmas, we will certainly be getting in to the festive spirit by exploring the characters of Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter. Using our theatre skills of mime, movement, voice and puppetry, to create scenes from the story, we will end the day with a presentation in our studio for families to watch.

The Snow Queen

Beautiful and powerful, a heart of ice and eyes shining…

The story of The Snow Queen and her magic mirror has long been a favourite of Playbox Theatre, and this holiday project will explore all elements of Hans Anderson’s icy story. We will follow Gerda’s adventure up to the cold north and use a combination of devising and improvisation to recreate this powerful, magical story. There will be a sharing of our work at the end of the day for grown-ups to enjoy.

Frosty the Snowman

Friday 20th December 10:30-13:30

Frosty the Snowman was made of snow but the children know, he will come to life one day!

Christmas is the best time of year to get up to High Jinks, which is exactly what we will be doing! We will be getting excited for the big day by reading festive stories, singing our favourite Christmas songs and making some frosty artwork. There will be plenty of performing and possibly even some snowmen coming to life in front of our eyes. The workshop will end with a picnic lunch.

North Pole Adventure

Saturday 21st December 10:30-13:30

It’s Christmaaaaaaaas!

Santa and his elves may be busy at the North Pole making presents but at Playbox Theatre we are just as busy! Come and join us for a three hour Christmas extravaganza. We will take our sleigh’s up to the North Pole and help Santa get his grotto in order, we will also use our acting skills to help Rudolph and Mrs Claus too. There will be tonnes of singing, games, stories and crafts with a delicious picnic lunch to reward our hard work!

All holiday clubs are hosted in beautiful studios at The Dream Factory, with plenty of outdoor space for participants to get fresh air during breaks. Lunch, or evening refreshments, are included in fees, prepared by Café Whirl.

Open to everyone!

Playbox members receive a discounted rate, and non-members are always welcome to join these sessions.
